MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM

Aani-koo-bi-ji-ganag Ina-wen-diwin
"When we heal ourselves, we heal our ancestors."
ABOUT US
The Red Lake Nation's Mental Health Program provides culturally informed mental health services to children zero to 21 years of age. Our providers help to support a wide variety of concerns including but not limited to school anxiety, grief, history of trauma, family stress or depression. Our approach is to provide support to the entire family system; with a focus on culture and healing.
The Mental Health Program's Anishinaabeg name, "Aanikoobijiganag Inawendiwin" is broken down into two words, "Aanikoobijiganag" which means ancestors and "Inawendiwin" which means relational accountability or interconnection.
Aanikoobijiganag Inawendiwin describes the intention of our program, that when we heal ourselves, we heal our ancestors. In doing so, we also heal our families, children and communities.
